MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Director Spencer Grigg, who has served in the position for 15 years and worked with the department for three decades, has announced his retirement.
Grigg will be officially retiring Feb. 1, though his last day with the city will be Jan. 17, said Human Resources Manager Kerri Fenner during a farewell message to Grigg at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
“We want to thank you, Spencer, for the 30 years of service you have given the city in the Parks and Recreation Department,” Fenner said. “With you at the help of the Parks Department, our citizens have had access to a myriad of recreational and educational programs; a beautiful Museum and Art Center, the well-loved Surf ‘n Slide Water Park, the very popular Cascade Campground, and a city full of stunning parks and recreation areas.”
Mayor David Curnel, City Manager Allison Williams and council members Karen Liebrecht and David Eck also expressed appreciation to Grigg for his years of service.
“I’ve been part of an amazing team of people,” Grigg said Tuesday. “I’ve been having fun and getting paid for it, and that makes for a good career.”
The Columbia Basin Herald will catch up with Grigg for a feature-length story appearing in the coming days.
