Patrick Henry Nave Sr., 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Patrick was born on November 3, 1931, in Los Angeles, California, to Henry and Effie Nave. At the young age of 7, his mother passed away and he was then raised by his aunt on a farm in Hemet, California. After graduating high school, Patrick joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country, he returned to farming in California, where he met his first wife. They had two children together and moved the family to Sandpoint, Idaho, where they purchased Sandpoint Building Supply.

In 1966, Patrick met Gladys, his wife of 55 years. Patrick built houses, then the couple moved to Opheim, Montana, for seven years and he worked as a carpenter for the Air Force. In 1980, they moved back to Sandpoint, where he worked for a local photographer, mat cutting and making picture frames. Up to his retirement, when he was 72 years old, he worked for Dave’s Equipment and repaired cars.

Throughout his life, Patrick was a hard worker. After retirement, he became an avid reader of history. Patrick’s hobbies included clock repair, car and farm equipment repair, along with finding treasures at thrift stores and junk yards.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Nave; sons, Pat Jr (Vicki) Nave and Zane Nave; stepson, Dave (Carol) Gilson; eight grandchildren, Valerie (Sean) Cover, Jessica (Brett) Chapman, James Barnard, Amy Quick, Carl (Lori) Kinkel, Kristy (Earl) McCulla, Todd (Marcy) Gilson, and Sandra Gilson; 11 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Shianne, Adelyn, Randi, Kaelani, Samantha (Samuel), Matthew, Dawntae, Reno, Rebecca, and Nevaeh; and four great-great-grandchildren, Aslan, Sterling, Majjour, and Atlas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Yvonne Kinkel.
