BLANCHARD — A North Idaho man is accused of shooting another man in the leg on Monday, court records show.

Peter Jacob Vradenburgh made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court via videoconferencing on Friday, although minutes from the hearing were not immediately available. Vradenburgh is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

There is no probable cause affidavit on file and an inquiry about the circumstances surrounding the shooting was not immediately returned by the Bonner County Prosecutor's Office on Friday.

Bonner Dispatch records indicate sheriff's deputies were summoned to an undisclosed address on Blanchard Cutoff Road at 4:30 p.m., after receiving a report of a shooting.

Vradenburgh, 43, was served with a $200,000 arrest warrant by authorities in Kootenai County on Wednesday, court records show.

Vradenburgh is further charged with unlawful possession of a handgun due to prior felony convictions in Utah. Convictions against him for attempted robbery and felony drug possession in Weber County were entered in 2016, court records indicate.

Vradenburgh is being prosecuted as a persistent violator, Idaho's version of the three strikes law, which could add five years to life to his underlying prison sentence if he's convicted of the latest felony charge.
