NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee’s 11 representatives to the Electoral College on Monday cast their vote for President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

“Today we conclude what has been a unique election cycle,” said Elections Coordinator Mark Goins ahead of vote that took place in Tennessee’s House chamber.

Monday is the day set by law for the meeting of the Electoral College, where all 50 states' electors and the District of Columbia cast their ballots. The results will be sent to Washington and tallied in a Jan. 6 joint session of Congress over which Vice President Mike Pence will preside.

Trump won Tennessee by more than 60% in the November presidential election against Democrat Joe Biden, even though Biden went on to win wide margins in both the Electoral College and popular vote.

After the votes were cast, Republican Gov. Bill Lee continued to decline to acknowledge Biden as president-elect.

“I think we’ll see after today where the process is and what challenges exist and don’t exist," Lee told reporters.

While most attendees wore masks, many of the electors removed their face coverings during the event. The event was peaceful with no protesters present.
