CLARK FORK — Clark Fork girls basketball dropped its third straight game Tuesday night, falling 74-31 to Lakeside.

The Lady Cats were seeking revenge for a district championship loss last season, but the Knights took control early and never looked back.

Lakeside's depth proved to be the difference. The Knights had 14 players check into the game while the Lady Cats were limited to nine, and that number shrunk to eight after the first quarter when Emily Myers was sidelined with a knee injury.

Clark Fork gave it their all, but you could see the toll Lakeside's press had on the players in the first half.

The Lady Cats turned the ball over 15 times in the first half and the Knights took a 41-16 lead into the locker room.

Head coach Jordan Adams tried to fire up her team at halftime.

"I told them the same thing I told them the last game, we got to start coming out in the first half and the second half," she said.

The speech worked and Clark Fork came out in the second half with a sense of urgency and scored 13 points in the third quarter. But it was too little, too late.

Adams liked what she saw from her team at times, but she said they need to be more willing to shoot when they are open.

"We've really got to learn to attack and dish," she said. "As soon as we draw in the defense, get rid of the ball. I feel like sometimes we're so focused on running the play ... If you can get to the hoop without running the play, that's great."

Katelyn Matteson led Clark Fork with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Adams said Matteson's mentality is unmatched.

"Katelyn's always one of our strongest players, that's just how she is," Adams said. "She is the most serious, she is the most intense and she is the first one to do whatever she is supposed to."

Lily Reuter tallied 8 points and four rebounds, Eloise Shelton notched 4 points and six rebounds, and Paige Valliere and Grace Yancey each scored 2 points.

Clark Fork (1-3) hits the road to face the Post Falls C team at 5:30 p.m. tonight.
