POST FALLS — A man could face a decade in prison after he allegedly committed his third DUI violation in two years.

John L. Jamison, 51, is charged with felony DUI.

Police said they observed a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a running truck outside a Post Falls bar around 4 a.m. Monday.

The man, identified as Jamison, reportedly did not react when police pointed a flashlight at him but stirred when they knocked on the window. He allegedly told police he had a few drinks at the bar and was waiting in his truck for a ride.

Jamison provided a breath sample of .15, according to court documents. In Idaho, a blood alcohol level of .08 or more is considered legally impaired.

Police arrested Jamison at the scene and charged him with driving under the influence. He was also booked for driving without privileges, a misdemeanor. His license was reportedly suspended because of previous DUI convictions.

Jamison was previously convicted of driving under the influence in April 2019 in Spokane County and in February 2020 in Pend Oreille County.

In Idaho, a third DUI violation within 10 years is punishable by up to a decade in prison.

Judge Anna Eckhart ordered this week that Jamison be held on $50,000 bail.
