BONNERS FERRY — Members of the community came out at 3 p.m. to pay their finals respects to Tony Navarro, a dispatcher for the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, who passed away on Dec. 6.

Many in the community have felt the loss of Navarro, and all he has done for the community. Many came to show respect for the first responder’s procession to bring Navarro home from the Southern Boundary County line to his family home in Moyie Springs.

The escort was limited to a few of Navarro’s family and First Responder vehicles.

Many were asked to wear Green Bay Packers gear, Navarro’s favorite football team. As the procession passed through downtown Bonners Ferry, many began to cry and mourn the loss.

A heartfelt message was given about Navarro in a post by Boundary County Search and Dive Rescue Team.

“Tony Navarro passed away yesterday afternoon of natural causes, and he was in his early 30s and leaves behind two small children. We ask our followers to please pray for comfort, understanding and healing for both his family at home and in public safety. He will be greatly missed.”

According to Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer, Navarro was a dispatcher for the county since 2016. Navarro, as a dispatcher, handled all calls and dispatched for law enforcement, medical and fire departments.

“Everyone enjoyed working with Tony; he made everyone feel like family and always left no doubt that he was a Green Bay Packers fan (He also had a share in the Packers that he was proud of).” Kramer wrote, “I remember walking into Dispatch one day and seeing Tony sitting at his Dispatch station with him wearing a large Cheese Head Hat.”

Kramer reflected on his first interactions with Navarro when he was a boy, “He will be remembered and missed by all of us that knew him. I had known Tony since he was a young boy as his Dad Bryan and I worked together on the City Police for many years. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of his family.”

Over the police scanners, a final message was shared, “We brought you home, we’re gonna miss you big guy.”
