A Mattawa man was injured Wednesday morning on Interstate 90 near George when he lost control of his semi, causing it to strike a cable barrier and jackknife.
Juan G. Contreras, 46, was headed west on the interstate, near the state Route 281 on-ramp and tried to merge into another lane when he lost control of his semi just before 11:23 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol. The vehicle was blocking one of the lanes when it stopped.
Contreras was taken to Quincy Valley Hospital for his injuries and cited for driving with wheels off roadway.
He was wearing his seat belt. Drugs and/or alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor, the WSP said.
