National weather services issues winter storm warning through Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning effective from 1 a.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday night.
According to a statement published by the National Weather Service Spokane, precipitation will begin as snow in the morning and transition to rain later in the day. Heavy snowfall is expected in the Idaho Panhandle and Northeast Washington.
Affected locations include Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, Priest River and Schweitzer Mountain Road. More heavy snow is also expected over the weekend and into next week, according to the weather service.
The weather service warns that travel will be difficult, and hazardous conditions may impact morning and evening commutes. Those who must travel are advised to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
