EXCEL: Helping program thrive

I must take this moment to once again thank The Excel Foundation for their generous support of our local schools. This year Excel funded a number of grants to purchase supplies for our music education students. This year I was pleased to be awarded several grants which provided the opportunity for elementary students to learn to play Bb trombones, Eb trombones, piano, flutes and a new instrument called the Jhorn.

Students of all ages are able to find their love of making music on instruments they really want to play. Students’ experiences in music have been deeply enriched and their engagement is now being driven by their desire to learn more.

As I write this letter, I have students spending their lunch recess to practice their instruments because they desire to improve. This is all in thanks to Excel for the continued support of music programs throughout the Coeur d’Alene School District.
