SANDPOINT — Winter’s here and it’s time to have some fun.
The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and area businesses will host the 47th annual Winter Carnival, running from Feb. 14-23, Winter Carnival offers 10 days of family fun and activities throughout Sandpoint and Schweitzer Mountain. The festivities will kick off with the Parade of Lights on Friday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Sandpoint.
The parade, sponsored by Ting, offers businesses, organizations and individuals a chance to show their local pride, creativity, and playful side. Falling on Valentine’s Day, the parade theme is “Love and Light.” Parade officials are seeking themed floats, groups, marching brigades, snowplows and tractors — if you can move it and decorate it with lights, they want it in the parade.
Participation is free, but registration is required. There are three categories which will be awarded honors at the end of the parade: best in theme, best participation, and grand champion.
The parade concludes at Jeff Jones Square Fountain at Third and Main, where winners will be announced and the Parade After Party will start. There will be fire pits, a free hot chocolate bar donated by Hendricks Architecture, s’mores and music courtesy of Pend d’Oreille Winery and much more.
Parade registration e is due by Friday, Feb. 7.
