WENATCHEE — Moses Lake girls bowling was a tiebreaker win away from competing as a team at the District 6 Championships.

However, individually, junior Haley Rogers placed fourth overall to nab one of the two individual state berths. Rogers led the Chiefs with 525 pins over the course of three games to earn a spot in the final meet of the year.

Rogers needed a big score in her final game, trailing eventual fifth-place finisher Colby Hull of Eastmont by 29 pins after two games.

She was able to deliver.

Rogers rolled a 203 — third-highest among all competitors — to beat out Hull for the final state berth by 27 pins.

Wenatchee won the district championship comfortably with 3,614 pins. The Panthers were led by Jaiden Thompson, who led all bowlers with a game of 262 pins, and Kylah Hankins, who posted a high-game of 217. Lana Makalii of West Valley was the other individual state qualifier.

The WIAA State Championships begin Friday at noon at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place.

Team placing: 1. Wenatchee 3,614; 2. Eastmont 3,378; 2. West Valley 3,378; 4. Eisenhower 3,270.

Moses Lake scores: Haley Rogers 525, Kylee Christie 447, Kylee Pardee 425, Sarah Devoll 381.
