Prep roundup: Ephrata boys win on senior night

EPHRATA — Ephrata boys basketball picked up the win on senior night after a strong fourth quarter helped the Tigers pull away from Grandview, 53-32.

Ephrata bid farewell to seven seniors on Tuesday night. After struggling to get things going for the most of the game, with the score at 29-24 after three quarters, the Tigers poured in 24 in the fourth. Lakota Lange led the Tigers with 11, while a flurry of Tigers were close behind in single digits.

Othello 58, Quincy 44

QUINCY — Othello won on the road against Quincy, taking down the Jacks 58-44. Frank Lopez led the Huskies with 15 points. Julian Alegria was close behind with 14, while Jorge Buenrostro added 12.

The win kept Othello in a tie for eighth in the CWAC. Aidan Heikes led the Jacks with 14 points. Trey Bierlink finished with 12 for Quincy as well.

Royal 86, Wahluke 63

MATTAWA — The Knights picked up revenge for the Warriors’ win in Royal City earlier in the season, taking down Wahluke 86-63 on Tuesday.

Derek Bergeson led the Knights with 22 points. Carter Dorsing finished with 20, while Luke Bergeson added 14. Caleb Christensen led the Knights on the board with nine, while Tyler Allred led the team with seven assists.

QUINCY — Analee Coronado scored 21 points and Othello earned its first win of the season, beating Quincy 65-41.

Othello ended its skid with one game to play in the regular season. Jeweliana Pruneda added 15 points to join Coronado in double figures.

Ashley Perez had seven points as the Huskies had nine players score. Emily Wurl scored 20 of Quincy’s 41 points.

Wildcats Ntekpere selected as GNAC female athlete of the year

PORTLAND, Ore. — Emy Ntekpere’s 2025 track and field season at Central Washington University was nothing short of spectacular, according to a statement by Central Washington Athletics. She broke records seemingly every time she competed, won three NCAA Division II national titles and on Thursday was announced as the 2024-25 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year, according to the statement. She is the second woman and fourth student-athlete in school history to earn the top individual award from the conference and is the 12th women’s track and field athlete to receive the honor. Other CWU winners were LeAnne McGahuey (volleyball) in 2005-06, Mike Reilly (football) in 2008-09 and Johnny Spevak (football) in 2009-10
