SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — After trailing in the first three quarters, Sandpoint boys basketball shut down West Valley in the fourth to claim a 55-52 win over the Eagles on Wednesday night.

The victory helped the Bulldogs rebound from back-to-back losses to Lake City

“Our guys got out there today and played an excellent game,” head coach Wade Engelson said.

Only eight guys took the court for Sandpoint and West Valley missed a 3-pointer to tie the game as time expired.

Seniors led the way for the Bulldogs as Kobe Banks finished with 17 points and Ryan Roos and Christian Niemela each tallied 8. Sophomore Jacob Eldridge added 6.

“We’ve gotten better throughout the season, we’ve grown as a team,” Engelson said. “It doesn’t always show on the scoreboard but if you watched us at the beginning of the season and watched us now, we’re a significantly better team and the only thing that’s held us back is the injuries.”

Sandpoint (8-9, 0-2 IEL) hosts Moscow at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Sandpoint 14 15 17 9 — 55

West Valley 17 15 15 5 — 52

SANDPOINT — R. Roos 8, Banks 17, Niemela 8, Eldridge 6, VanDenBerg 3, C. Roos 5, Treadaway 4, Casey 4.

WEST VALLEY — Vasicek 14, Pakootas 10, Peterson 4, Davis-Reed 8, Livingston 7, Sweet 6, Dyfort 0, Dobney 3.
