Fatal crash closes U.S. 95

NAPLES — A 55-year old man from Naples died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 95 near McArthur Lake.
According to the Idaho State Police (ISP) press release, Randall P. Merrifield was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred at 3:36 p.m., after being ejected from his vehicle.
Merrifield was driving a blue 2003 Toyota Camry north on U.S. 95 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled into the southbound lanes, striking a semi-tractor with a loaded chip trailer driven by James D. Biddix, 52, of Sedro Woolley, Wash., ISP reported.
Both lanes of the highway were closed until about 8 p.m., with alternating lanes until 1 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
