On Jan. 16, the residents of Ponder Point, Whiskey Jack Road, Whiskey Jack Circle and Seven Sisters development, attended an open meeting of the Planning and Zoning Committee.

We would like to thank the P & Z staff members attending this meeting for their patience in listening and showing their concern.

Special thanks to those who spoke, Steve Klatt, Bonner County Road and Bridge; Brad Mitton, Northside Fire chief; Jeff Dale Hopkins, Selkirk Fire chief; Jeff Lindsey, EMS chief; Bob Howard, Bonner County EMS; and Josh Pilch, Bonner County Planning Committee.

There were many issues regarding Whiskey Jack road width, emergency access, aging bridge, monitoring weight limits, density in the population, causing an increase in traffic trying to enter onto Highway 200 and the daily railroad crossing delays due to the increased amount of trains.

The concern for life and fire hazards are real.

We appreciated the comments and specially the promise to forward our concerns. Now we look forward to rapid results.
