Naples man dies in crash

A Naples man was killed Tuesday when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tractor-trailer on Highway 95 near McArthur Lake.

Idaho State Police said Randall P. Merrifield, 55, of Naples was northbound about 3:36 p.m. in the 493000 block of the highway when he lost control of his 2003 Toyota Camry. Merrifield’s vehicle entered the southbound lane where he struck a semi-truck with a loaded chip trailer driven by James D. Biddix, 52, of Sedro Woolley, Wash.

Mr. Merrifield was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The roadway was blocked for approximately nine hours.

Next of kin has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
