Whitefish Winter Carnival is in full swing this weekend.
This year’s celebration of frivolity and friendship takes on a Roaring 2020s theme.
Winter Carnival, a longstanding tradition for Whitefish, is now in its 61st year.
Grab your girlfriend or your granny, bring your beau or corral the kids and come for the fun of Whitefish Winter Carnival!
Here’s a rundown of this weekend’s hilarious happenings:
Friday, Feb. 7
Snow Sculpture Showdown. Teams will begin creating their sculptures and finish them by noon Saturday. Carnival Royalty will judge them prior to Saturday’s parade and award prizes. Watch the snow artists at work at Depot Park.
Saturday, Feb. 8
Penguin Plunge — 11 a.m. Join the fearless for a frigid dip at City Beach in Whitefish Lake. This year’s plunge celebrates 20 years of “freezin’ for a reason.” Conducted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the Polar Plunge benefits Special Olympics Montana. Kiddie Carnival — 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Head to Whitefish Middle School for games and prizes for all ages.
Pie Social — 12:30 to 3 p.m. Who can say no to homemade pie? Grab a bite and warm up with hot coffee, for sale at St. Charles Parish, 230 Baker Ave.
Grand Parade — 3 p.m. Winter Carnival peaks with the Grand Parade downtown, the mightiest, merriest parade of all. The parade route follows Second Street to Spokane Avenue, then turns onto Central Avenue in front of Depot Park before exiting on Third Street.
Sunday, Feb. 9
Rotary Pancake Breakfast — 8 a.m. to noon at the Whitefish Moose Lodge, 230 W. 10th St. All-you-can eat pancakes with all the trimmings for $10, benefiting Rotary’s charitable contributions. All veterans with military ID and their families eat free.
