Former Zag Morrison will have jersey hung at McCarthey Athletic Center

SPOKANE — Adam Morrison, who helped usher the Gonzaga men’s basketball program into national prominence, will be honored by Gonzaga Athletics on Thursday, Feb. 27 during a ceremony prior to GU’s game against San Diego.

Morrison, who will become the third player in program history to have his jersey displayed in the McCarthey Athletic Center, will be present for the ceremony. He will join that of John Stockton and Frank Burgess among those with their jersey numbers hung in the arena.

Morrison led the nation in scoring in his last year, as a junior in 2006, averaging 28.1 points per game.

Morrison finished his career as the third-leading scorer in Gonzaga history with 1,867 points. He is also third in the career rankings for field goals made (659), fourth in free throws made (398) and ninth in three-point field goals made (127). Morrison’s name is also scattered throughout the GU single-season rankings. He is first in single-season points (926 in 2006), field goals made (306 in 2006) and free throws made (240 in 2006). Morrison was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats as the third pick overall in the 2006 draft; the highest draft pick by a Gonzaga player.
