Cardinal men win 13th straight, beat Walla Walla

COEUR d’ALENE — Emmit Taylor III, a sophomore from Lapwai High, had 19 points and 11 rebounds for North Idaho College in a 115-87 win over the Walla Walla Warriors in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Rolly Williams Court on Saturday, the Cardinals’ 13th straight win.

Christian Guess, a sophomore transfer from Missouri, had 35 points and 10 rebounds for NIC (23-1, 11-0 NWAC), which shot 44 of 77 from the field and 21 of 37 from the free-throw line.

Kolby Modrow, from Centennial High in Boise, hit 10 3-pointers and scored 34 points for Walla Walla (10-13, 4-7).

NIC travels to Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Sailor Liefke had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the East Region-leading Warriors, who won their 19th straight game, beating the Cardinals at Rolly Williams Court.

Cheyenne Green scored 13 points off the bench for NIC (13-9, 7-4 NWAC), which is fourth in the East Region with five games remaining. The top four teams in each region qualify for the NWAC tournament.

Holly Golenor scored 18 points for Walla Walla (22-1, 11-0).

NIC travels to Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.
