Kady L. Dyer said the occupants of a westbound car made a hand motion that aggravated her.
Driving a black Mitsubishi on Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene when the incident allegedly occurred around noon Sunday, Dyer pulled a firearm from her glovebox and pointed it at the four occupants of the other vehicle, “gangster style,” witnesses said.
As a result, Dyer, 20, is in the Kootenai County jail facing an aggravated assault charge. A judge on Monday set bail for Dyer at $1,500.
The gun she used to scare the teenage occupants of the other car was a BB pistol, according to police reports.
Deputies arrested Dyer by tracing her car to a residence on the 6900 block of North Calispel Drive and ordering her from the house.
She told deputies that she had not been driving and that the Mitsubishi had not left the driveway, but the victims had taken a photo of the car a couple hours earlier traveling on Prairie Avenue.
According to a police report, four Post Falls teens were driving west on Prairie Avenue around noon Sunday when Dyer’s black Mitsubishi followed their car too closely.
Dyer smoked a cigarette and flipped off the driver and passengers of the other car before pointing the BB pistol at the occupants and speeding away, according to a report.
The victims called authorities, and Dyer was found in the Coeur d’Alene Place neighborhood and arrested.
Dyer said the teenage occupants of the other car had made a pistol gesture, pointing their fingers at her. She also told authorities that she had used methamphetamine, according to a police report.
Aggravated assault carries up to five years in prison. Dyer’s preliminary hearing will be later this month.
