The Columbia Falls girls basketball team dropped two conference foes last week in convincing fashion.

The girls beat Libby on the road 67-21 and thumped Polson at home for senior night, 66-7.

The Wildkats shot out to a 21-0 lead in the first stanza and never looked back against winless Polson, who had a tough time getting it past half court against the Wildkats’ press Saturday.

Maddie Robison had 14 in the win, Josie Windauer had 12 and LaKia Hill had 10.

Robison had 14 against the Loggers on the road Friday. Hannah Schweikert had 13 and Windauer 11.

Coach Cary Finberg said he was pleased that the girls kept the intensity up in both games.

“They were ready to play right from the start,” he said. He also was able to play a lot of players in both games.

The girls are now 14-1 heading into the final stretch of the regular season, where the opposition gets tougher.

They’ll face Browning on the road Saturday night and then travel to Ronan on Tuesday.

Browning is the only team to beat the Wildkats this season and the Kats had to overcome a big deficit to beat Ronan in their last matchup.

Finberg said the Wildkats have been playing consistent ball the past four-five games and they’ll need to do that this week on the road.

“If we play our game consistently, I like our chances,” he said.

The games will determine the conference champion and seeding heading into the divisional tourney in Ronan the following week.
