Meet Chris Johnson, Coeur d’Alene Press salesman and business owner of the Moss Boss LLC. Chris loves family time and outdoor activities. When he’s not working, he’s playing.

Generation: “Millennial is the category that I fall in for my age. I grew up playing Atari, then Nintendo, then PlayStation. So that’s the era I grew up in. Pagers to cell phones.”

Career and community involvement: “I have been selling the Coeur d’Alene Press since 2009. I love my job and everyone I work with. And I get to meet the community. Everyone has different lives yet we’re all the same.”

Parental status: “I have three kids, two boys and a girl. And a beautiful wife. They are what drive me.”

1. How long have you been manning Press kiosks in the community, and what do you enjoy most about it?

“I have been selling newspapers for the Coeur d’Alene Press now for 11 years. What I love most about it is that I get to interact with the public. All the amazing people I’ve met over the years bring familiar faces when I go to the stores. I get to meet new people all the time. It’s pretty awesome. We have such a great community! We should feel lucky to live here.

“When I’m not selling at the store I’m telemarketing in the office. I have a passion for the newspapers - it’s an old tradition we should hold on to. There’s nothing better than a community newspaper, waking up to the newspaper with a cup of coffee. It’s the best way to start your day. I look forward to it every day.

“If you see me come say hi and I’ll give you a complimentary newspaper and we’ll get it delivered to you. Everyone should have the newspaper!”

2. What do you do as the ‘Moss Boss?’

“I am the owner of the Moss Boss LLC. We clean roofs, gutters, siding and concrete. We remove the nasty moss off your roof while adding life to it. So if you have moss on your roof or need your house washed, give me a call and we’ll get it taken care of for you - 208-704-1701 or Rooftopmossremoval.com”

3. What is one of the strangest or toughest moss encounters you’ve ever had?

“We deal with bees all year long. One year we got a bee’s nest down that was so big it was the size of a basketball. I still have it as a souvenir.”

4. What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

“I’ve played Hoopfest every year for 20 years. I won it in 2008. My kids also play. One day I hope we all play together on a team.”

5. When you’re not busy making friends in the community, how do you like to spend your time?

“I like to spend my free time doing outdoor activities. In the summer you can find me on the lake boating with the kiddos, tubing and wakeboarding. In the winter, we like to go to the different mountains and snowboard.”

Rabbit season is over for the Art Spirit Gallery. The popular metal bunny sculpture "Harvey" that has watched over downtown Coeur d'Alene since 2015 from its post at the south end of a Diamond parking lot adjacent to the gallery is hopping away to its new home in Arizona this weekend. It is expected to be installed at the home of John and Julie Vanderwey midweek. "It's going into a very unique situation," John Vanderwey said Friday in a phone call with The Press. "I love it. It’s so fun. We’re building our whole backyard around it."
