Basin roundup: Yarbro posts massive stat line in Big Bend win

WENATCHEE — Big Bend women’s basketball showed fight at the tail end of its season by beating third-place Wenatchee Valley 67-66 on the road.

Moses Lake Christian grad Anna Yarbro led the Vikings with 30 points and 18 rebounds, shooting 14-of-18 from the floor. The Big Bend sophomore recorded an even nine offensive rebounds and nine defensive rebounds.

Big Bend started the fourth quarter up one point, but had to rally later after falling behind 57-49. The Vikings went on a 12-2 run to regain the lead, 61-59. Yarbro scored 10 of the 12 points in the run.

After trading leads throughout the final quarter, Maelyn Mace stole the ball and Savana Stephenson hit a go-ahead jump shot with five seconds left on the clock. Stevenson finished with 14 points and Kaitlyn Callahan added 18.

Men’s basketball

Wenatchee Valley 88, Big Bend 84

WENATCHEE — Big Bend lost to Wenatchee Valley in overtime 88-84.

Landon Harrington made a 3-pointer toward to end of regulation to force the extra period.

Jonathan Thomas scored a game-high 31 points and Harrington had 20.

Boys basketball

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 76, Wellpinit 53

DEER PARK — Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) boys basketball staved off postseason elimination with a win against Wellpinit 76-53.

The win moves the Warriors into the consolation final Saturday, 2 p.m., at Deer Park High School. Another win would secure a regional berth.

With its season in the balance, ACH was sharp from the outset. The Warriors built a 10-point lead after the first quarter and led 44-27 at halftime.

Reece Isaak erupted for 34 points and Chase Gerard scored 18.

Girls basketball

Odessa 67, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 49

DEER PARK — Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) allowed 31 fourth-quarter points and lost to Odessa 67-49.

The Warriors led 39-36 after three quarters before the Tigers’ outburst in the fourth, eliminating ACH from the postseason.

Austyn Kenny scored 15 points and Makenna Oliver had 12 for ACH. Maddy Wagner led Odessa with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
