Swimmers do well at state

The Columbia Falls swim team wrapped up another successful season with a good showing at the state meet in Great Falls Feb. 15.

The boys took fifth place overall, the girls took sixth.

Peyton Malmberg took second in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100 breaststroke. Malmberg teammate Connor Cheff by .04 in the breaststroke.

Emerald Templin took fourth in the 500 freestyle. Cheff took third place in the 200 individual medley and third in the 100 breaststroke.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
