DYW participants ready to Rock the Runway

I grew up in the Tri-Cities, Wash., and have always loved to write. I attended the University of Washington, where I earned a double major in journalism and political science, with an area of emphasis in history. I am the fifth out of six kids — don't believe any of the stories that my siblings tell. To be able to tell others stories and take photos for a living is a dream come true — and I considered myself blessed to be a community journalist. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking and spending time outdoors, genealogy, reading, and watching the UW Huskies and the Seattle Seahawks. I am a servant to my cat, Frankie, who yes, will eat anything and everything in sight … even wedding cookies. | February 21, 2020 1:00 AM
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint’s Distinguished Young Women participants are getting ready to Rock the Runway on Saturday.
The event — an annual fashion show fundraiser — is DYW’s biggest fundraiser for the year and a great way to support its participants, said Jennifer Wyman.
“There will be a lot of fashion but also a fabulous selection of silent auction items to bid on which include a 10-night, 11-day stay in Kona, Hawaii,” she said.
In addition to the stay in Hawaii, the silent auction will include arts, crafts, services, gift certificates and so much more. In addition, there will be a live dessert auction which are provided by the participants themselves and a 50/50 raffle.
“This will be a fun-filled day where you get to meet our participants and their adorable little misses,” Wyman said, inviting the community to join the fun and help support the participants. “You won’t want to miss it.”
Wyman said the program also is selling, “On The Lake” raffle tickets for a Pend Oreille Charters half-day fishing charter for two, a Lake Pend Oreille history cruise for four and a $100 Trinity’s gift certificate. Tickets are $5 each and winner is drawn the night of the Distinguished Young Woman program on Saturday, March 21.
You do not have to be present to win. Tickets will be available to purchase at the fashion show or contact any committee member or participant.
Tickets for Saturday’s fashion show fundraiser are available from Distinguished Young Women participants, at Grace & Joy Clothing Company, 212 N. First Ave., or online at rocktherunwayfashionshowfundraiser2020.eventbrite.com
The fundraiser begins at noon, with doors opening at 11:45 a.m. It is being held t Sandpoint High School in the commons.
Participants will be wearing fashions provided by Grace & Joy Clothing Company, 7b Board Shop, North 40 Outfitters, Bella Terra Boutique, JCPenny, Kindness Matters with April Lytton, Carousel Emporium, I Saw Something Shiny, Larson’s Department Store and Azalea Hand Picked Style.
“We want to send each store a huge thank you for providing outfits to each participant,” Wyman said. “Without you, this day would not happen, so thank you.”
