Health Corridor won't be subject of advisory vote

The Kootenai County Board of Commissioners won’t ask voters to weigh in on Coeur d’Alene’s Health Corridor urban renewal district, but will seek advisory votes on proposed districts in the future.
That decision was reached Monday, pending review by the county’s attorneys.
Commissioner Leslie Duncan supported a non-binding advisory vote on the health corridor URD, while Commissioners Bill Brooks and Chris Fillios did not.
Fillios said residents who disagree with the Coeur d’Alene City Council’s passage of the health corridor in early December should direct their comments to the city council. Brooks said putting the health corridor advisory vote on a ballot in May would give the public false hopes. The county is powerless to change the Coeur d’Alene City Council’s 5-1 decision.
