Featuring the splendid photography of over a half dozen local artists, the theme of this month’s First Friday is Anything Goes. The public is invited to Pend Oreille Arts Council’s Gallery at 110 Main Street this Friday, January 3 for an artists’ reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Great photography is the result of technical skill and artistry,” POAC Executive Director Hannah Combs said. “The local photographers of POAC’s artist group have chosen three of their favorite pieces that best demonstrate both of these skills. Like most art, it starts with what the eye sees. The photographers use their camera lenses to show us what they see and how each of them sees what is all around us. They teach us through the magic of their technical skill and their incredible creativity.”

At press time, Susan Beard, Foster Cline, Kathleen Cassidy, Don Fisher, Kip Folker and Sandy Piltch have signed up to participate. “I’m hoping a few more show up, too!” Combs said.

At Pend d’Oreille Winery, the after-party starts at 6:30 with the featured artwork of Daren Purdy.

A trained furniture finisher, Purdy continues a family tradition of creating rustic mirrors and tables as well as repairing furniture and color-matching finishes at his business, Rustic Reflections. You’ll want to stop by the winery before 8 p.m. to join the festivities.
