SANDPOINT — There was no shortage of news in 2019.
Below are the highlights of the events which took place in the county during 2019, from Jerry Kramer being honored by the city of Sandpoint and Bonner County after he was selected for the NFL Hall of Fame to Bonner General Health celebrating its 70th anniversary.

Litehouse, Inc. acquires all assets of Sky Valley Foods, a well-known company in the organic and natural food channels. This acquisition will assist Litehouse in expanding its portfolio into organic food and increase its presence on the East Coast.
Jerry Kramer receives local recognition. The road parallel to War Memorial Field is officially renamed as Jerry Kramer Way and county commissioners unanimously issued a proclamation designating May 22 as Jerry Kramer Day in Bonner County.
Nine year head volleyball coach Jeff Hurst resigns, Karen Alsager assumes the position. Alsager also teaches physical education at SHS, and has led teams to two 4A state titles in her previous coaching years.

144 Canada geese relocated from City Beach to Chain Lakes Wildlife Management Area in Kootenai County.
Tom Albertson, LPOSD educator and administrator for 32 years, is named new superintendent of LPOSD after a unanimous vote by district board members.
Tamarack Aerospace Group voluntarily files for bankruptcy on June 1. This comes as a direct result of airworthiness directives from federal and European aviation regulators
STCU opens relocated Bonner County branch on June 10 in Ponderay just 300 feet from its older branch in the Ponderay Crossing Shopping Center. This new building is 4100 square feet, twice the size of the old location, and offers three drive through lanes and a 24 hour walk-up ATM.

Bonner General Health celebrates its 70th anniversary on July 13 at its Health Services Building with music, games, and cruiser bike raffle.
Cedar Street Bridge reaches full capacity for the first time in years.
City Beach hosts the five-day 2019 Thistle National Championship sailing competition.
The Litehouse YMCA celebrates its official grand opening.
David Miles is named the new SHS principal after a thorough interview process involving five candidates. Miles served as principal for Boundary County Middle six years prior to receiving this new position.
