POST FALLS — The smash off-Broadway hit "The Marvelous Wonderettes" is coming to the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center Jan. 24 through 26.

"The Marvelous Wonderettes" takes audience members to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where they're introduced to Betty Jean (Callie McKinney Cabe), Cindy Lou (Amy D'Orazi), Missy (Heidi Santiago) and Suzy (Nicole Delbridge) — four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts.

This musical comedy, written by Roger Bean, pays homage to the high school songleader squads of the '50s. When called upon to perform at their senior prom as a last-minute replacement, Springfield High songleaders Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy rally together to entertain their classmates in four-part harmony.

"When you first hear the opening notes of ‘Mr. Sandman’ with four perfectly blended voices, you know you will be in for a toe-tapping treat," said director Lorna Hamilton. "These girls are vocal powerhouses, and the comedic storyline shows how rounded their talent is. This is a performance you don't want to miss."

As show-goers learn about the lives and loves of the Wonderettes, the girls serenade their audiences with classic hits, including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid” and “Lipstick on Your Collar.”

"I am thrilled singing harmony with these amazing actresses," McKinney Cabe said. "The music is pure joy. There is something about the music that reminds me of a more innocent time.”

"This show will bring smiles, so much laughter and light-hearted fun to everyone who gets the chance to see it," D’Orazi said.

Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre will present this hoppin' '50s musical dinner show Jan. 24, 25 and 26. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at www.cdasummertheatre.com or by calling 208-660-2958.

The JACC is at 405 N. William St., Post Falls.
