Addie Janice Kelly, 98
Addie Janice Kelly, 98, also known by her friends as Janice, passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2019, of natural causes. She was born in Petoskey, Mich., on May 6, 1921.
She moved to Idaho in the early 1950s with her husband and children and lived in various towns, like Harrison, Troy, Moscow, and Pocatello for a short time. She finally moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1963. She preferred rural life and enjoyed tending a large garden and several flower beds and camping in remote areas. She spent time every fall canning and preserving food from the family’s garden and orchard. Addie was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was involved in a variety of activities, including volunteer activities, for over 45 years. She was a member of the Dorcas Society, where she spent many years making quilts. She also spent a lot of time getting clothing and food ready for those in need. She called bingo and visited many residents of area nursing homes in Coeur d’Alene. Her favorite activity was walking. She has walked over most of Coeur d’Alene.
She was preceded in death by her immediate family, including her mother, father and all her siblings and half-siblings. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Halbert Culbertson; her second husband, Richard Kelly; a son, Jim Kelly in 2010; three children in infancy and one as a young child. She is survived by three of her eight children: Marj Spangler, Barb Davis and Mike Kelly. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The celebration of Addie’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at 111 E Locust Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
She had requested in lieu of flowers, that family and friends make donations to Hospice of North Idaho or the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Coeur d’Alene.
