Who wouldn’t want their children to be respectful, responsible and fun to be around? And, who wouldn’t want the tools to make that happen?

If you do, you can head to the Panida’s Little Theater on Saturday, January 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. to hear renowned local psychiatrist Foster Cline’s Love and Logic Concepts Seminar.

Certain to entertain and educate, this seminar is pertinent to every parent regardless of their child’s age. Dr. Cline promises lots of information, lots of examples and lots of fun.

“I believe if you get people laughing, they’ll get the point.” Dr. Cline, the author of the book, “Parenting with Love and Logic,” said. “The information is practical, specific and immediately applicable. Plus, questions are encouraged and thoroughly answered.”

Love and logic techniques have been around for decades. The website www.loveandlogic.com states, “The ‘love’ in Love and Logic means that we love our kids so much that we are willing to set and enforce limits. This ‘love’ also means that we do so with sincere compassion and empathy.

“The ‘logic’ in Love and Logic happens when we allow children to make decisions, affordable mistakes and experience the natural or logical consequences. When we balance this with sincere empathy, they develop the following logic: Our children learn that the quality of their lives depends on the quality of their choices.”

Not only noted for his work in child and adult psychiatry, Dr. Cline and his wife, Hermie, have raised three birth children, three foster children and one adopted child. One can’t say he hasn’t put his principles into practical use.

All of the proceeds from the event will go to the Panida Theater. Teens are welcome to attend. Cost is $12 each or $20 per couple. Tickets can be purchased at panida.org in advance, or at the door. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
