Alicia Dawn Carver, 28, pleaded not guilty to theft, criminal possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia in Lincoln County District Court on Jan. 6.
Carver, of no fixed address, was arrested after authorities found her in a stolen vehicle parked outside of an Avenue B home in December. During her arrest, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies also found a syringe loaded with what initially tested positive for heroin in the car.
Talking to witnesses and suspects — all left unidentified in the court affidavit — authorities determined Carver likely stole the car, wrote Deputy James Derryberry. Authorities also alleged she used drugs in the vehicle.
Carver is being held on a $25,000 bond pending a reduction hearing. An omnibus hearing is scheduled for March 9 and pretrial hearing for April 27.
If she is found guilty, the maximum penalty for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, is a $50,000 fine and five years in state prison. For theft exceeding $1,500 but less than $5,000, also a felony, she potentially faces a three-year sentence, a $1,500 fine and $85 surcharge.
Criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor charge, carries a maximum penalty of a $500 fine, $85 surcharge and six months in state prison.
