Basin roundup: Moses Lake boys basketball drops home game to West Valley

MOSES LAKE — West Valley methodically outscored Moses Lake in each quarter to win 57-45.

The Chiefs limited the Rams to at most 13 points in a quarter until a 20-point fourth quarter allowed the visitors to pull away.

Kyle Karstetter scored a team-high 16 points and Dylan Roylance scored seven. West Valley’s Logan Kinloch made three 3-pointers to lead the Rams with a game-high 19 points. Conner Turner, the Rams’ 7-foot post, scored 13 points.

With the loss, Moses Lake dropped to 1-3 in the Columbia Basin Big Nine.

Ephrata 60, Prosser 56

EPHRATA — Ephrata moved into second place in the Central Washington Athletic Conference after beating Prosser 60-56.

Kyle Hendrick’s 16 points helped the Tigers complete the season sweep of the Mustangs; Jayce Moore scored 12 points.

Toppenish 63, Othello 47

OTHELLO — Frank Lopez scored 14 but Othello was unable to hand Toppenish its first Central Washington Athletic Conference loss. The Wildcats led by 10 at halftime and won 63-47.

Jorge Buenrostro and Patrick Azevedo paced the Huskies with 13 and nine points, respectively. Jason Grant was the focal point for the Wildcats with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Selah 81, Quincy 60

SELAH — Quincy could not contain Noah Pepper and lost 81-60.

Pepper scored 36 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. Trey Bierlink scored 25 points for Quincy in the loss. Aidan Heikes and Saul Alvarez added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Zillah 88, Wahluke 62

MATTAWA — Wahluke could not contain high-flying Zillah and lost 88-62.

Trenton Zirker scored a team-high 17 points for the Warriors. Mason Landdeck led the Leopards with 20 points.

Zillah stretched its lead out with a 22-7 third quarter margin.

Riverside Christian 69, Wilson Creek 20

YAKIMA — Wilson Creek scored at most six points in a quarter and lost to Riverside Christian 69-20.

The Devils trailed 21-6 after the first quarter. Byren Dowers scored eight points for Wilson Creek.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 63, Selkirk 43

COULEE CITY — The Warriors raced to an 11-point lead after the first quarter to beat Selkirk 63-43.

Chase Gerard led the Warriors with 22 points.

YAKIMA — Kyle Karstetter erupted for 31 points and Moses Lake defeated Eisenhower 69-55.

Moses Lake outscored Eisenhower in every quarter, taking a 33-23 lead at halftime.

Toppenish 83, Quincy 47

QUINCY — Quincy trailed 37-18 at halftime and lost to Toppenish 83-47.

Aidan Heikes scored 10 points for the Jacks. Isaac Perez scored 21 to lead the Wildcats.

SELAH — Selah led 29-18 at halftime and cruised by Quincy 63-35.

Emily Wurl scored 20 of the Jacks’ 35 points. Selah’s Kylie Sherman nearly had a triple-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks.

Toppenish 50, Othello 27

OTHELLO — Othello could not find enough offense in a 50-27 loss to Toppenish.

The Huskies scored 13 points in the first quarter, but were held to six or less the rest of the game. Analee Coronado scored a team-high eight points.

Prosser 69, Ephrata 34

EPHRATA — Payton Hagy scored 16 points but Ephrata fell to prosser 69-34.

Prosser scored 19 points apiece in the second, third and fourth quarters.

Riverside Christian 38, Wilson Creek 31

YAKIMA — Wilson Creek was unable to rally from an early deficit and lost to Riverside Christian 38-31.

Abby Hinen led the Devils with 11 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 42, Selkirk 33

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline outscored Selkirk 13-4 in the fourth quarter and won 42-33.

Mimi Isaak scored 20 points and Makenna Oliver added 11.

QUINCY — Quincy fell behind 21-2 after the first quarter and lost to Toppenish 58-27.
