Jan. 12, 1970 – PROUDLY WE SALUTE

Army PFC Stanley W. Allen, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe R. Allen, Hope, completed a microwave radio systems repairman course recently at the Army Signal School, Ft. Monmouth, N.J.

Edward Poindexter, of the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam, was promoted to Army Spec. 4. He is the son of Robert D. Poindexter, Sandpoint.

Terrence F. O’Brien, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. O’Brien, Sandpoint, has been promoted to master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is an electrical equipment technician at Andersen AFB, Guam.

RAINBOW ELECTRIC IS NEW LOCAL FIRM

A new electrical firm, Rainbow Electric Co., made its opening bow here the first of the year. The owner, George A. Cunningham of Portland, will engage in all types of electrical work: general electrical contracting, electrical heating, home wiring, commercial work and installation.

SON BORN TO ED WALSONS IN HAWAII

TM2C and Mrs. Ed Walson of Waipahu, Hawaii, are the parents of a son, Christopher Lee, born Dec. 28. Mrs. Walson is the former Toni Weisz. Walson has spent seven years in the Navy and is attached to the USS Haddock, SSN621.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Walson and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weisz. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Chet Walson, Mrs. Linda Culley, Mrs. Madeline Weisz and Mrs. Rowena Anderson. Great-great-grandmother is Mrs. Geo. Hagadone.

Pend d’Oreille Review

Jan. 12, 1920 – CITY BREVITIES

Sheriff Freeman of Shoshone county was in the city yesterday looking up evidence in the cases of some IWWs who are to be tried in that county.

The Pend d’Oreille Motor company’s new garage in the former R & A building at (206) Cedar street has this week been opened to the public. The enterprise is that of Mrs. E.W. Dreisbach, with Harry Lyons as manager. The building is an ideal one for an auto salesroom, and as rearranged and equipped is attracting much favorable comment.

DOUBLE WEDDING

At 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon, at the residence of A.E. Stutsman, 1216 Lake street, occurred a double wedding in which James T. Elsasser and Otie E. Stutsman, both of this city, and Eugene A. Blair of Kootenai and Lora Olive Elsasser of this city were the principals. Rev. W.N. Byars of the Methodist church officiated in the ceremony, which was witnessed only by immediate friends and relatives. After a wedding feast, the newly wedded people left on the N.P. railroad for Spokane on a short wedding trip.
