NIC sweeps in
final three duals
in Oklahoma
MIAMI, Okla. — Alan Badley (174 pounds) finished the day 3-0 — as did his Cardinal team — with dual wins over Cloud County, Colby and Labette on the campus of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
NIC shut out Cloud County 57-0, then beat Colby 41-18 and concluded the tournament with a 41-7 win over Labette, finishing 5-2 over the weekend.
Sam Peterson (285) had a pair of pins on the day for NIC (14-3), and Connor Koch (157) wrestled well over the weekend, Cardinals coach Mike Sebaaly said.
“Losing those last two matches (Friday) left a bad taste in our mouths,” Sebaaly said, though noting those losses came to the No. 4- and No. 1-ranked teams in the NJCAA. “We got some other guys in the lineup; we came back and wrestled a little better today.”
NIC, ranked No. 3 in the country, returns to action Jan. 24 against Clackamas in Oregon City, Ore.
