SATAY: Happy customers speak up

We are new residents to Coeur d’Alene and have dined at the Satay restaurant several times since moving here in June. The food, the presentation, the price and the service have been exemplary. Their apple glaze pork chop entree, for one example, is best we’ve ever had.

In response to Mr. McTear’s letter, I do agree that it is a little more pricey but hey, it’s not a McDonald’s type of restaurant. I don’t want to be Captain Obvious here, but let’s be clear on this: Every merchant who allows credit cards to be used for payments incurs a service charge for doing so — no exception — and there are no options for a cash discount at other places in town. In fact, if you pay by cash at other venues, you do not even get the option of a discount.

So in reality, we are all paying for the credit card service fee at other establishments whether we pay in cash or use our card. Mr. Rob Elder is operating in greater honesty by offering such a discount if we would like to bypass that fee. We love the ambiance and the food at Satay and will continue to dine there and I don’t mind bringing my cash so I can save the 3.5% credit card fee.
