XGR-Abortion-Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. — Top Kansas Republicans want to head off any push for an abortion ban in the state even as they make overturning a Kansas Supreme Court ruling that protects abortion rights a top priority. The GOP-controlled Legislature expects to consider a proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution during the annual 90-day lawmaking session set to convene Monday. It's a response to the state high court's ruling in April that the state's Bill of Rights makes access to abortion a fundamental right. By John Hanna. SENT: 776 words.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Political icon and 1996 Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole on Monday endorsed western Kansas' congressman in the state's GOP Senate primary. Rep. BKC-New Mexico-Bragg Dismissed

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico forward Carlton Bragg Jr. has been dismissed from the Lobos basketball team following his arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Coach Paul Weir released a statement late Sunday, hours after Bragg's arrest, saying the embattled player needed to focus on his personal well-being.New Mexico is Bragg's third school. He played at Kansas, where he was suspended after being arrested and charged with battery against a woman in 2016, although that charge was dropped and the woman who made the claims was later charged after prosecutors reviewed surveillance video.
