STABBINGS-COLORADO SPRINGS
COLORADO SPRINGS — Eight people were injured by a male suspect in an apparent random stabbing rampage near downtown Colorado Springs, police said Monday. The suspect was restrained by some of his victims and arrested before dawn by officers, police said in a statement. SENT: 210 words.
SMALL JAIL ESCAPE
WESTCLIFFE — Authorities in Colorado searched Monday for two inmates, including one suspected of attempted murder, who escaped from a jail in a small town after overpowering a guard and locking her in a cell. Jerry Williams, 39, of La Junta, who is suspected of attempted murder and other crimes, and Bryan Webb, 30, of Walsenburg, who was being held on drug charges and suspicion of assaulting a police officer, took the deputy's radio and the keys to a 2017 Toyota Sienna minivan belonging to the Rotary Club in Westcliffe on Sunday night, the Custer County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. SUPREME COURT-PUBLIC NUDITY
CONCORD, N.H. — The U.S. Supreme Court is leaving in place the public nudity convictions of three women who removed their bathing suit tops on a New Hampshire beach as part of a global campaign advocating for the rights of women to go topless. WOODWARD-HEXCEL
Woodward and Hexcel are merging in an all-stock deal that would create one of the largest suppliers in the aerospace and defense industry. PORTLAND, Ore. — Hemp growers and entrepreneurs who were joyous a year ago after U.S. lawmakers reclassified the plant as a legal agricultural crop now are worried their businesses could be crippled if federal policymakers move ahead with draft regulations. Licenses for hemp cultivation topped a half-million acres (200,000 hectares) last year, more than 450% above 2018 levels, so there's intense interest in the rules the U.S. government is creating.
