TOP STORIES:

VOTER PURGE

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. — A Wisconsin judge on Monday found the state's election commission to be in contempt and ordered the bipartisan panel to immediately begin removing up to 209,000 names from the state's voter rolls or face hundreds of dollars in fines for each day they don't. By Ivan Moreno and Scott Bauer. SENT: 750 words. AP Photos planned.

ELECTION SECURITY

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin officials want to launch a public relations push to reassure people that elections are secure. The Wisconsin Elections Commission staffers plan to ask the panel Tuesday for permission to spend $260,000 to develop website information, videos, news releases and graphics. A survey conducted by advertising firm KW2 for the commission this fall found many respondents were worried about cyber-attacks, absentee ballots not getting counted and vote machine tampering. By Todd Richmond. SENT: 505 words.

ELECTION 2020-WISCONSIN-EX-FELONS

MILWAUKEE — Community activists believe there are thousands of former prisoners across Wisconsin who have the right to vote but don't know it. They say those people could be a factor next year in a state known for deciding elections by the narrowest of margins. So a statewide group of former prisoners is fanning out across Wisconsin in an effort to register some 7,000 people before the 2020 election. By Sara Burnett. SENT: 1,160 words, photos, video.

AROUND THE STATE:

SEVERE STORMS

Icy roads, deadly tornadoes, and punishing waves were all part of the severe weekend weather blamed for 11 deaths and major damage in parts of the Midwest, South and Northeast. The death toll included tornado victims in Alabama and Louisiana and two first responders struck by a car at an icy Texas accident scene. In Wisconsin, wind, waves and flooding caused major damage Saturday to Port Milwaukee on Lake Michigan. SENT: 605 words, photos, video.

SPORTS:

NFC CHAMPIONSHIP

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The NFL's most common playoff matchup of the last quarter century will have its eighth edition when San Francisco hosts Green Bay in the NFC championship game. The 49ers beat the Packers 37-8 in November. By Pro Football Writer Josh Dubow. UPCOMING: 750 words, photos by 6 p.m. CST.

SEAHAWKS-LYNCH

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Marshawn Lynch muscled his way into the end zone for two more postseason touchdowns for the Seattle Seahawks, capping an unexpected bonus chapter at what could have, this time, been the end of his NFL career. In Lynch's typical do-it-his-own-way fashion, after Seattle was ousted in the divisional round by Green Bay in a 28-23 defeat on Sunday night, the 33-year-old running back offered little insight during a brief postgame interview into his possible retirement. By Dave Campbell. SENT: 425 words, photos.

SEAHAWKS WRAPUP

RENTON, Wash. — For the third time in Pete Carroll's tenure, the Seattle Seahawks were left wondering what if after a second-half rally in the divisional round of the playoffs fell short. The loss to Green Bay will sting, but also leaves plenty of optimism moving forward. By Tim Booth. UPCOMING: 750 words. By 6 p.m. CST.
