MGM RESORTS-REAL ESTATE

LAS VEGAS — MGM Resorts International is selling the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay resorts and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip to a joint venture for about $2.5 billion. SENT: 200 words, photo.

PIGEONS IN COWBOY HATS

CASINO TAX INITIATIVE-NEVADA

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas-area teachers want to ask Nevada voters to approve a state constitutional amendment to hike taxes on the largest casinos in the state to raise as much as $315 million a year. An initiative and petition filed Monday with state election officials is backed by the Clark County Education Association. SENT: 300 words.

SIERRA STORM

RENO, Nev. — Chains or snow tires were required Tuesday on much of U.S. Interstate 80 in the Sierra and most highways around Lake Tahoe after a winter storm packing snow and winds in excess of 130 mph blew through the region. A winter weather advisory for the Reno-Tahoe area expired at 10 a.m. Tuesday but a winter storm watch goes into effect Thursday when a stronger storm is forecast to bring up to 2 feet of snow to the highest elevations. — MARIJUANA TAX REVENUE-NEVADA: Nevada collected a monthly record of nearly $9.8 million in marijuana taxes in October, state officials reported.

— HIGHWAY PROJECT CONTRACT: A North Dakota company has been awarded a $99 million contract to construct an interchange to provide new direct connections between two freeways in metro Las Vegas.

— PAYPAL-CHARITY SETTLEMENT — The attorneys general of Nevada and 20 other states have reached a $200,000 agreement with PayPal Charitable Giving Fund Inc. to settle complaints over its handling of charitable contributions through the company's online fundraising platform.

— DES MOINES FLIGHTS — Allegiant Air announced Tuesday it will add three new nonstop flights — to Memphis, Tennessee; Austin, Texas; and Chicago — from the Des Moines International Airport.

FBN-LAS VEGAS STADIUM ROOF

LAS VEGAS — Installation of a translucent roof for the $2 billion football stadium being built in Las Vegas for the NFL's Raiders is months behind schedule, but officials say it should be ready by the start of next season. An independent monitor working for the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, however, says the target date for occupancy could be in jeopardy. SENT: 200 words.

NEW YORK —The WNBA and its union announced a tentative eight-year labor deal Tuesday that will allow top players to earn more than $500,000 while the average annual compensation will surpass six figures for the first time. By Doug Feinberg. SENT: 780 words, photos.
