PRIEST RIVER — Community support is helping a local family cope after they lost everything they own in a Jan. 6 house fire.

Ciera Predmore and her fiance were upstairs asleep when they were awoken in the early hours Monday by her mom yelling up the stairs that the wood stove pipe was on fire. The couple scrambled to act, but the fire had already spread to the attic and the family of four escaped with what they were wearing, their two dogs and three kittens. However, several other kittens and two bunnies did not survive the fire.

“We are really amazed at the generosity and kindness people are showing,” said family friend Krista Wiebe in a post on the online fundraising site, GoFundMe. “Ciera and her family are incredibly grateful and don’t know what they would have down without the community support they are receiving.”

The family lost everything in the fire and are currently staying at the Eagles Nest Motel in Priest River. The family is staying at the Eagles Nest Motel in Priest River and are on a “desperate mission” to find a new rental, whether in Priest River or in Sandpoint.

Since the GoFundMe page was created on Jan. 8, it has raised $2,250 of its $5,000 goal.

“If it weren’t for you guys they don’t know how they would have survived,”Wiebe said in a Tuesday post. “This family lost everything they had and are just trying to live one day at a time.”

The family is grateful for the community’s support and appreciates all of the donations, help and prayers.
