At the Cut Bank Invitational this past weekend, Arlee Warrior and Mission-Charlo Bulldog grapplers competed against top rate competition that included a quartet of Class A programs. Mission-Charlo would place fourth in the team standings, bolstered by a pair of champions and another placer.

A Mission Valley marque matchup would take place at the 145 weight class when Arlee’s Colt Crawford and Mission-Charlo’s Isaac DuMontier crossed paths in the semifinal. The second-ranked DuMontier would take this round, but Crawford would win a wrestleback to place fifth. DuMontier would go on to capture the championship over third-ranked Dallen Hoover of Whitehall.

At the 170 weight class, Mission-Charlo’s Isaiah Allik would sweep through his competition to win another championship, but this time he had to wrangle against a pair of Class A wrestlers, defeating top tier ranked Keaton Potter of Lewistown in the finale.

Also placing would be Darwin Adams at 152, who would string together a quintet of wrestlebacks that included a pair of Class A wrestlers to make the consolation final, where he would come out on the short end of a decision with a BC ranked opponent from Whitehall.

Eight other wrestlers from both Arlee and Mission-Charlo won multiple matches. Both BC teams will compete at the Rocky Mountain Classic in Choteau this weekend.

Pirate plaque preference Burger-larized by Bulldogs

At Smith Fields in Whitefish for the 2018 State A boys soccer championship, the Polson Pirates and the Northern A conference champion Bulldogs would put on quite a show in an energetic quest to claim the coveted state A crown last Saturday. This would be just the third foray to the championship match in the history of the Pirate boys’ soccer program, who hoped that the idiomatic expression “third time’s a charm” would play out in Polson’s favor.
