Plains looking to fill City Council slot
Clark Fork Valley Press | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 5 years, 11 months AGO
Plains is still looking to fill a City Council seat that has been opened since the resignation of councilman Michael Brinson.
Plains has three wards within the town limits and each ward is represented by two council members. Interested parties must be at least 18 years of age and must live within that ward that they wish to apply for. The current opening is for Ward 2, encompassing the area of town to the northwest of Montana 200.
Applicants must turn in a letter of interest to town hall by no later than Jan. 31. Applications will be reviewed at the next town hall meeting, Feb. 3. The meeting will also be open to public comments on the updated wastewater tax.
The new council member must be approved by the current council and will be required to attend council meetings, vote on budget items, and perform various other tasks related with the job. All council members must also be on at least one commitee such as public works, which currently also happens to be the only one with a vacancy.
Council members are paid $150 per month, at a flat rate.
