SANDPOINT – Neighbors helping neighbors.

For Meggie and Chad Foust, owners of Sweet Lou’s, that is what it is all about — from dishing up great food to lending their time and talents to causes they support, it’s no wonder the business has been recognized as the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce’s January Business of the Month.

Named after their son, Sweet Lou’s was originally opened in Hope in 2001. With the success of the Hope location, the Fousts opened their second restaurant in Ponderay in 2002. In 2016 they decided to close the Hope location and expand the Sweet Lou’s brand to Coeur d’Alene, operating as Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House. They employ 86 people between their two locations.

Over the years Sweet Lou’s has been happy to give back to the community by donating to organizations most important to them; the public schools, youth sports, animal welfare, cancer services, and veteran services. For the last eight years, Sweet Lou’s has opened its doors to all veterans offering a free steak meal on Veteran’s Day. In 2019 they served over 2,500 steak meals to the community’s local heroes!

Along with monetary donations and sponsorships from the restaurant, the Fousts both volunteer in the community. Chad Foust is a very active member on the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce Board and is a major sponsor and volunteer of the annual Beerfest and Summer Sampler. Meggie Foust has spent five years on the board of the Panhandle Animal Shelter and is a proud member of 101 Women. They are proud to be part of a community of neighbors helping neighbors!

You can find Sweet Lou’s at 477272 Highway 95 in Ponderay and at their second location, 601 E. Front Avenue in Coeur d’Alene.
