Carlton hits late 3-pointer to lift Cardinal women

COEUR d’ALENE — Alex Carlton hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key with seven seconds remaining, sending North Idaho College over the Wenatchee Valley Knights 66-63 in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Rolly Williams Court on Wednesday.

NIC outscored Wenatchee Valley 30-16 in the final 10 minutes, rallying from a 47-36 deficit to get the win.

Sydnie Peterson scored 24 points for NIC (8-7, 2-2 NWAC), which hosts Blue Mountain on Saturday.

Cariann Kunkel scored 17 points for Wenatchee Valley (11-6, 2-2).

COEUR d’ALENE — Christian Guess scored 17 points for the Cardinals in a Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Knights at Rolly Williams Court.

Yusuf Mohamed scored 13 points and Emmit Taylor III added 12 points off the bench for NIC (16-1, 4-0 NWAC), which outscored Wenatchee Valley (15-2, 3-1) 37-17 in bench points.

Austin Hatch scored 14 points for Wenatchee Valley.

NIC hosts Blue Mountain on Saturday in coach Corey Symons’ return from a 10-game suspension for a conference rules violation.
