Lakeside WinterFest kicks off today

Lakeside WinterFest 2020 on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18 will feature a variety of activities, including an outdoor movie for the whole family, live music both nights, ski and fat bike demonstrations on Blacktail Mountain, Lakeside passports, family cup ski races, the annual pig roast, and a raffle fundraiser for Lucky, the decoy police car.
Kicking off the weekend on Friday (today) is Ladies Ski and Cocktails clinic and aprés ski music on Blacktail Mountain featuring Beat Deaf at Muley’s Bar & Restaurant from 3 to 5 p.m. Today is also outdoor movie night Friday night starting at 6 p.m. Hot cocoa, coffee, and a winter treat will be served next to the cozy fire pits on the patio of Harbor Grille. Bring a chair, blanket and warm clothes. Inside Harbor Grille Eric Alan will be provided live music starting at 7 p.m.
Saturday morning pick up your “Lakeside Passport” and go on a family adventure. Get your passport stamped at local participating businesses and be entered to win one of three baskets, each valued over $150. Drop off your completed passport at Stageline Pizza before the drawing at 5 p.m. Head up to Blacktail Mountain for the annual Family Cup Ski Races. Registration and check-in start at 9:30 a.m. Sportsman & Ski Haus also sponsors a Demo Day featuring the latest in skis, snowboards and fat bikes.
Tamarack Brewing Co. will have its annual all-day pig roast special, with live music featuring Pedacter Project starting at 7 p.m., and Lucky’s raffle and live auction festivities. Lucky is Lakeside’s well-known decoy cop that “patrols” U.S. 93 during the summer, reminding folks to slow down. Raffle tickets are on sale at participating local businesses. The drawing takes place at 8:30 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to win. All proceeds will go directly into Lucky’s Fund, which is used for maintenance on Lucky, his sheriff (Omar), and the solar-powered speed awareness signs in Lakeside and Somers.
