St. Maries boys too much for Badgers

BONNERS FERRY — Coleman Ross had 11 points, nine steals and three assists to lead visiting St. Maries past the Badgers 63-48 in a nonleague game on Thursday, Jan. 9.

“We had a goal to hold them to 50 (points) or less,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said. “Our defense was really good in the first half and we did a good job of stopping the ball and getting back on defense tonight.”

Eli Gibson had 12 points, Tristan Gentry 10 points and six rebounds for St. Maries (7-3), which is among the state-ranked teams in Class 2A.

Ty Bateman scored 11 points to lead Bonners Ferry, with Matt Morgan adding 10 points.

The Badgers return to action tonight, hosting Genesis Prep of Post Falls at 7 p.m. Bonners Ferry travels to Kellogg on Saturday
