Newlee notches 200th win at Idaho

Lizzy Klinker totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds and Jon Newlee picked up his 200th victory as Idaho coach as the Vandals downed Eastern Washington 69-60 on Thursday night in Big Sky Conference play at Cowan Spectrum in Moscow.
Gina Marxen and Janie King added 12 points each for Idaho (9-5, 4-1 Big Sky), which plays host to Montana on Saturday.
Kennedy Dickie led EWU (2-12, 1-4) with a career-high 18 points. Grace Kirscher, a sophomore from Sandpoint High, hit 4 of 4 3-pointers and followed with 16 points for the Eagles.
Eastern Washington plays host to Montana State on Saturday.
No. 15 Gonzaga 67, Santa Clara 52: At Santa Clara, Calif., Jill Townsend scored 13 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for her second career double-double and No. 16 Gonzaga cruised to its 15th straight victory, beating Santa Clara.
The victory marked the best start in school history for the Bulldogs (17-1, 6-0 West Coast Conference). Last season they suffered a second loss in their 18th game.
LeeAnne Wirth scored 12 points and Melody Kempton, a sophomore from Post Falls High, added 11 off the bench for the Bulldogs
Gonzaga scored the first five points of the game, Kempton had five points in a late 7-0 run and Townsend knocked down a 3-pointer with 12 seconds to go for a 21-18 lead after one quarter.
Tamia Braggs scored 10 points for the Broncos (8-9, 2-4), who were outrebounded 43-26.
Gonzaga had 22 offensive rebounds which turned into a 25-6 difference in second-chance points.
Gonzaga plays at San Francisco on Saturday.
