East Valley 53, Othello 47

YAKIMA — Othello was held to five points in the fourth quarter and lost to East Valley 53-47.

Patrick Azevedo scored a team-high 20 points and Jaden Flores added 11. The Huskies led by nine points at halftime.

Grandview 70, Quincy 34

QUINCY — Quincy trailed by 20 points after the first quarter and lost to Grandview 70-34.

The Jacks fell behind 28-8 after the first quarter and scored at most 11 points in a quarter. Trey Bierlink accounted for half of Quincy’s point total with 17.

Riverside Christian 72, Moses Lake Christian 30

YAKIMA — Moses Lake Christian was held to two points in the first quarter and lost to Riverside Christian 72-30.

The Lions could not contain Riverside Christian’s Levi Rivera who scored 27 points to go with 10 rebounds and eight steals.

Pierre Boorman scored seven points to lead MLCA.

Liberty 79, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 63

SPANGLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague could not overcome an early deficit and lost to Liberty 79-63.

Austin Thompson scored a team-high 14 points and Tayshawn Colvin had 17 for Liberty.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 66, Republic 19

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline held Republic scoreless in the fourth quarter and won 66-19.

Reece Isaak led the Warriors with 15 points; Chase Gerard and Brayton Schafer added 12 points each. The Warriors led 33-11 at halftime.

YAKIMA — Analee Coronado scored 16 points and Othello fell to East Valley 55-42.

The Huskies trailed by only one points at halftime, but were outscored 30-18 from that point on.

Ashley Perez added 15 points for the Huskies.

Quincy 42, Grandview 41 (OT)

QUINCY — Quincy edged Grandview in overtime 42-41.

Emily Wurl led the Jacks with 15 points. Quincy outscored Grandview 15-6 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Moses Lake Christian 42, Riverside Christian 31

YAKIMA — Kali Kast scored 13 points and Moses Lake Christian beat Riverside Christian 42-31.

The Lions outscored the Crusaders 36-22 after the first quarter. Jocelyn Lloyd added eight points.

SPANGLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague could not maintain its halftime lead and lost to Liberty 45-37.

Janaye Wilkie scored 12 points for the Broncos.

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline held Republic to single-digit scoring in each quarter and won 61-25.

Maddie Murray scored a team-high 12 points and Makenna Oliver had 10.

Moses Lake High School graduate Zach Phillips scored a game-high 26 points for the Chukars. Landon Harrington led the Runnin’ Vikes with 17 points.

Women’s basketball

Treasure Valley 78, Big Bend 57

MOSES LAKE — Treasure Valley led by 17 at halftime and beat Big Bend 78-57.

Anna Yarbro led the Vikings with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Maelyn Mace and Kayla Luke had nine points each.

Big Bend travels to Walla Walla today for a doubleheader. The women’s game starts at 2 p.m.

Local athletes play in Columbia Basin series senior all-star baseball game

MOSES LAKE — The Sports Council and All-State Baseball announced in a press release that they are hosting the sixth annual Columbia Basin Series Senior All-Star Baseball Game presented by Central Industrial Sales. This annual showcase brings together standout seniors and celebrates the accomplishments of student-athletes from throughout the region. The game will be between some of the top graduating baseball players from across the Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities regions. The Yakima Valley team will consist of Moses Lake’s Noah Hernandez and Othello’s RJay Garza, Quade Gonzalez IV and Aiden Garza while being coached by Othello’s Head Coach Sonny Garza.

Wildcats qualify 11 for Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Washington University Track and Field put out a statement Tuesday to announce that 11 student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships running from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 in Welch Stadium at Emporia State University. Eight female track and field student-athletes qualified. Layla Fields, Zoe Gonzales, and Ashlyn Nielsen all qualified as part of the 4x100m relay team while Donna Marie Harris and Carley Huber qualified as part of the 4x400m relay team. Julie Castillejo will be a relay alternative due to quick turnarounds from some individual events. Ellie DeGroot qualified as a member of the 4x400m relay team as well as for the 400m hurdles. Maliyah Gordon was a qualifier in the shot put. Elise Hopper will represent the crimson and black in four events: the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay, the 400m dash, and the 200m dash.

ELLENSBURG — On Monday, Central Washington athletics announced in a statement the names for the 2026 athletic Hall of Fame class. Jean and Joe Adams (Spirit of Central), Catie Fry (Volleyball), Zak Hill (Football), and Dr. Richard Roux (Meritorious Service).
